David Lammy insisted that it is 'difficult to see' how Israel's actions in Gaza are legal today – but recovered his claim that international law had been violated.
In a declaration to MPs about the demolition of the cessation -the fires between Israel and Hamas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed an alarm about the 'terrible loss of life'.
Although he insisted that there was 'no moral equality' with the terrorist group, Mr Lammy said that there was a 'clear risk' that the decision of Benjamin Netanyahu to block humanitarian aid in Gaza was going too far.
He also confirmed that a British national was one of the injured after a UN connection was hit yesterday.
Mr. Lammy said: 'In the night of March 18, Israel launched air strikes in Gaza. Allegedly a number of Hamas figures have been killed, but it has been reported that more than 400 Palestinians were killed in rocket attacks and artillery barages. The majority of them were women and children.
'This seems to have been the deadly few days before Palestinians since the war began. This is a terrible loss of life, and we mourn the loss of every citizen. '

He said, “The government calls for a transparent investigation and for those who are held responsible.”

He said to MPs: 'We urgently want to see a return to a ceasefires -fires. More bloodshed is in no one's interests. Hamas must release all hostages and resume negotiations.
“Diplomacy is the only way to achieve safety for both Israelis and Palestinians.”
Mr. Lammy remembered the events of the past weeks during the two-month ceasefires before he noticed that the negotiations have been 'fixed' for several weeks.
He said: 'Hamas has opposed calls for releasing further hostages in exchange for a longer file.
'Israeli troops did not start to withdraw from the Philadelphi gang as agreed and on 2 March the Israeli government announced that it blocked all further assistance until Hamas agreed to its conditions.
'For weeks, stocks of basic goods and electricity have been blocked, so that more than half a million citizens have re -purchased clean drinking water and reveal an increase of 200 percent in the price of some basic foods; A blessing for those criminals who use violence to control supplies.

'As I told the house on Monday, this is terrible and unacceptable. Ultimately, these are of course cases for the courts, not for governments, to determine, but it is difficult to see how refusing humanitarian aid to a civilian population can be together with international humanitarian law.
'Although it is important to say that I could have been a little clearer in the house on Monday, our position remains that the actions of Israel in Gaza are a clear risk of breaking international humanitarian law
