The 76-year-old was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer last year and on Thursday morning his family confirmed that he had died.
In a statement they said: 'It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Eddie Jordan OBE the ex-formula 1 teaching owner, TV expert and entrepreneur.
'He died peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20 March 2025 at the age of 76, after fighting with an aggressive form of prostate cancer during the past 12 months.
“He worked until the last, after he communicated on St Patrick's Day, about his ambitions for the Irish rugby football club in London, of which he recently became patron.”

The family said: 'EJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy and Irish charm everywhere he went. We all have a huge gap without his presence.
“He will be missed by so many people, but he leaves us behind with many great memories to make us smile through our grief.”
Jordan leaves his wife Marie and his children: Zoe, Miki, Zak and Kyle. He has a lot of dedicated fans and will be greatly missed in the world of motorsport and beyond.
Shortly after the news was confirmed, the tribute for the F1 legend began to flow in. Among them was Jake Humphreys, who described it as a 'devastating sad and difficult day' for the sport.
He took to X, wrote: 'Totally destroyed. EJ has left us. Formula 1 will never again see that Eddie will ever be more where a man with a love for racing can gain his way to the sport and races.
“But more important than racing victories, he won hearts. I will never forget how his face would always light up when he saw a Jordan GP jacket, flag or cap … while we went around the world together after the team was sold.
“His biggest performances were Mikki, Zoe, Kyle and Zak. His incredible 4 children who share his mind. His wife Marie is one of the strongest, most wonderful women I have ever met.
'The 4 years we spent together with the hosting of F1 on the BBC was the largest of my career. Wing-walking, scooter driving, driving madness that I know loved him deep.

'His incredible spirit and love for life lives on in me, and my children who were lucky to meet him and hear everything about him.
“Eddie stabbed a room when he came in. That is a lesson for all of us – be the light in the room.
'I was lucky to share a last, cherished meal with him and his boys a few months ago. It was special. We spoke about me that I did a last interview with him. Unfortunately that will never happen.
“When I left, his last words were” I love your brother. ” One of the 3 Amigos has disappeared. The world seems a bit less smart this morning. Farewell friend. Play the spoons above for me '.
In the meantime, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: 'We are deeply sad to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan.
'With his inexhaustible energy, he always knew how he could make people smile and always stay real and brilliant.
'Eddie is a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones'.
Last month Jordan gave a heartbreaking update about the situation.

Jordan's last public observation was next to Ralf Schumacher in December

He founded Eddie Jordan Racing in 1979, who evolved into Jordan Grand Prix, who entered Formula 1 in 1991
“Sorry guys, just something small, thanks,” he said on talks. 'I just got out of getting chemotherapy and I am not 100 percent boys together here.
“I'm just not myself at the moment. I'm a bit everywhere, so please forgive me. '
He announced the disease last year and said on his formula for SuctensPodcast: “We referred a bit during the shows, long ago in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread in the spine and the pelvis, so it was pretty aggressive.”
'We have all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who is an absolute Megastar, and he comes out and talks about diseases such as what I have, but he is a much younger man.
'But this is a small message, and everyone listens to this: waste or don't postpone it. Go be tested, because in life you have opportunities.
'And there is so much medical advice there and so many things you can do to extend your life. Go do it. Don't be stupid. Don't be shy. It's not shy. Take care of your body, guys. '

Huldesten began to come in for the one legend formula after the news broke out on Thursday morning
He was known for his spicy comment and insisted on Ferrari in December to tear Lewis Hamilton's contract after he regretted his form.
After a sprinting in Qatar, Hamilton said: 'The positive thing is that the car is fast and that George should be able to shoot tomorrow. Who knows? I am absolutely not fast anymore.
'I'm just slow, the same every weekend. The car felt relatively decent, no problems and not really much to say anymore. '
Responding to the comments, Jordan insisted on Ferrari to withdraw from the contract, for fear that the British driver is 'f *** ed' because he misses 'faith'.
Jordan said on his podcast: 'If you don't believe 100 percent, are you f *** etc. Do you understand that?
“Because faith, 99.9 percent, that means that small, small, small thing that is right on your head that you give the things that might be,” Oh, I don't really have that trust. I don't really have the power. “
