Labor and the coalition have drawn the level in a poll pre-elections while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is preparing to announce the date of the poll.
The latest YouGOV survey that is provided to AAP shows that the opposition is making the land on the government, with the large parties now bound 50-50 on a preferred basis of two parties.
In the previous poll, the government had given a lead of 51 to 49 percent, behind the response to ex-tropical cyclone Alfred and the public response to the support of the government of Ukraine.
While the coalition drew the level in the two -party preference voice, Anthony Albanese is still ahead of Peter Dutton as a preferred premier, as a result of which Mr Dutton led 45 percent to 40 percent.
Yougov's director of public data Paul Smith said that a lead in personal approval in a tight election could be decisive.
“It's a very narrow race, but the prime minister has now consolidated his leadership as a preferred leader and that is important,” he said Aap.
Labor's primary mood has been unchanged since the last poll at 31 percent, while the COalition stood up a point to 37 percent.

The primary mood also deteriorated by half a percentage point for both the greens and one nation, to 13 and seven percent respectively, while the support for independent also decreased by one point to eight percent.
Mining magnate Clive Palmer's Trumpet from Patriots Party is only one percent despite another large edition advertising campaign.
The Yougov survey also showed that Mr Dutton was in charge of satisfaction with voters.
The satisfaction of the opposition leader is minus five percent, with 42 percent satisfied and 47 percent dissatisfied.
Mr. Albanese's net satisfaction is minus nine percent, with 41 percent satisfied and 50 percent dissatisfied.
The polling comes when Labor is preparing to distribute its fourth federal budget on Tuesday, which will show a shortage in the finances of the country after back-to-back surpluses.

The financial prospects led many to predict that the government would not deliver a budget and instead call an election.
The threat of Alfred in Queensland and Noord-NSW, however, led Mr Albanese to postpone his plans to visit the Governor General early enough to prevent a budget.
The elections must be held by May 17, with Mr Albanese expected that he would call the poll in the days after the budget.
The Yougov survey investigated 1500 people between 14 and 18 March, with a margin of error of 3.4 percent.
