Heathrow airport is closed all day today after a devastating electric fire – causing chaos for the approximately 220,000 that would travel today through the busiest airport in the UK.
It was forced to close after the most important electric substation exploded and was less than two miles away in the suburb of Hayes in the West London.
At least 1,357 flights have been canceled, diverted or delayed and people are advised not to make trips to the airport.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport, the nearest London airport of London to Heathrow, said MailOnline: 'We are aware of the situation at Heathrow airport today and we support by accepting sealed flights as required.
“Flights work today from London Gatwick as normal.”
Online Flight Tracking Service Flighttradar24 said that the closure would influence the planned 679 arrivals and 678 departure from Heathrow would be planned.
