A bar girl who defeated Tequila and Wine before killing a friend while driving her little hatchback with six people had no idea who died, images of her arrest revealed today.

Karla Dodds, 25, is imprisoned for 12 years after she had caused death by dangerous driving from Truman Hub in North Shields in November 2022.

Dodds, from Whitley Bay, fled the scene and was fatally injured. When she was arrested, a breath test showed that she was twice above the limit of the legal drinks.

Bodycam images showed her sobbing while she was sitting behind a police car and repeatedly asked the officer: 'Who was dead? Please tell me who is dead '.

But later it turned out that the former student of the boarding school had previously survived a fatal crash in which she was a passenger.

And Newcastle Crown Court heard that she had not learned her lesson, because almost two years after the tragic collision when she was stopped by the police for speeding violations and turned the limit for cannabis twice.

Dodds was convicted of causing the death of her 22-year-old school friend through dangerous driving after a process.

She had finished a service in a bar of Whitley Bay and later went to a nightclub where she claimed to have drunk two glasses of wine and two Tequila -Schoten.

Dodds then offered to bring friends, including Mr Hub, to a party and stuffed six others into her Hyundai i10, with one person in the boot and four in the back seat.

MR Hub stabbed his head from a rear window to feel the wind in his hair shortly before the fatal collision with a lamppost that turned the hatchback on the A191 near the North Tyneside General Hospital.

In a victim statement for her, Mr. Hub's mourning mother Rozalind said: “Truman was full of sunshine, laughter, disaster and love whose presence would alleviate every room.”

She called Dodds' decision to run away from the crash 'Wicked and Cowardly'.

Referring to the previous fatal accident that Dodds survived, Mrs. Tub said: “I thought she would have learned her lesson when she was a passenger a few years earlier in a fatal car accident.”

She added: “I think it goes without saying that we feel hostile, anger and even hatred against Miss Dodds, we can never forgive her because she has cut our son's life so briefly.”

Judge Roger Thomas KC said that Dodds was 'very intoxicated' when she was behind the wheel, had driven too quickly and was convicted 'on the back of overwhelming evidence'.

He said it was loud in the car, people sang and the passenger for the front seat had asked her to slow down before she crashed.

Judge Thomas said that the conviction and disqualification of Dodds for driving drugs after the fatal crash also multi -tell.

He said, “Everything about the case shows self -pity instead of real regret.”

He has imprisoned her for 12 years and forbade her to drive 13 years and nine months.

James Doyle, defensive, said Dodds wanted to train to become a nurse.

She had been a gifted runner and rugby sevens player and had been to Millfield School for a year, but had grown homesick.

He said she was a “cordial and friendly soul” and added: “She has her problems like everyone on this planet and she was and is a living.”

Mr Doyle said she has acknowledged that she has to change and “have to look for quieter waters in herself.”

When he claimed that she felt regret, the judge said there was no evidence to support that, “she left the stage and ran away, she did her best to get away with it.”
