She wrote on social media and said that 'the hatred and torture' were thrown to the family 'had kept his toll, but said there was relief after the former prime minister was told that she would not be charged in the Operation Branchform Fraud probe.
It was launched to see how more than £ 600,000 from crowdfunding was used by the party – and became one of the longest running fraud investigations in the history of Police Scotland.
In a Facebook message, Gillian Sturgeon said she spoke with her sister after she was tidy and thanked all those who 'stood with my family for the past two years'.
She wrote: 'To say that the last two years have been stressful, an understatement, but for my mother and father – is terrible.

'We have always known that Nicola was innocent, but the hatred and torture that is thrown our way has taken its toll. Speaked earlier with Sis and after a call I heard the relief in her voice.
“I know my mother, daddy, sister N himself will all sleep well tonight.”
It is understood that Gillian Sturgeon was the tearing sister.
It came as John Swinney said yesterday that he wanted Mrs. Sturgeon to be part of the Campaign effort of the SNP for the Holyrood elections of next year after development.
The SNP leader said he would be 'absolutely happy' if she continued to work for the party.
After talking to the media about feeling 'justified', Mrs. Sturgeon campaigned in a Glasgow city council on Thursday evening.
Asked if he would also see Mrs. Sturgeon campaigning at the Holyrood elections, Mr. Swinney said: 'I welcome Nicola's participation to the work of the party and the campaign effort.

Peter Murrell appeared Privé on Thursday at the Sheriff Court of Edinburgh.
He appeared private on Thursday at the Sheriff Court of Edinburgh, accused of embezzlement and was saved after no plea.

The Scottish Tory Deputy leader Rachael Hamilton said: 'For once I fully agree with John Swinney – it would be great to see Nicola Sturgeon next year on the SNP Campaign Trail.
'She is not only the most division of the Scottish politician of the Devolution era, but her record as Prime Minister is gloomy.
'She increased taxes on hard-working bulkheads at the same time that our public services destroys and that is before we even consider cynicism and the secret that its government or ferries scandal and recklessly characterized gender-self-ID policy.
“John Swinney cannot escape the fact that he was next to her at every step, or that he has doubled with many of her worst policy measures since he became the prime minister, but if he wants to actively remind the audience of this, we would be very grateful.”
