Bought solar panels for English schools and hospitals will come from China, has admitted Ed Miliband, despite concerns about human rights and the consequences for the environment.

But when he was asked where the solar panels will come from, he admitted that some will come from China, which is responsible for an estimated 80 percent of the total worldwide offer. When asked if they will come from China or Russia, he said, “Some of them will be, they will come from different countries, but that's why we have to build our domestic industry.”

Critics say that it makes no sense for Great Britain to try to reduce emissions in the UK by sending materials from China, where they were probably manufactured with the help of electricity of coal-fired power plants. The energy spokesperson for the Conservatives Andrew Bowie said: 'If these solar panels come from thousands of kilometers away, it shows how ridiculous this whole thing is. Ed Miliband and his Eco Warriors really have to be. '
There are also concerns that the Chinese solar energy -industry uses the forced labor of Uyghurs in the province of Xinjiang. Next week MPs will debate a proposal that would prohibit the public financing of renewable companies with forced labor in their supply chains.

Sources said that strict purchasing rules will enable the Ministry of Education and the NHS to terminate contracts with suppliers who have violated slavery laws.
