The house of a West Sydney family has boosted a drive-by shoots in what the police said seems to be a case of wrong identity.
The woman and her four young children had their Crossland Street House peppered with bullets in the attack in Merrylands early on Saturday morning.
The NSW police confirmed that the woman and her children were not the intended goals of the attack and an investigation was started to determine who was behind it.
Since then, dramatic images has emerged from a suspected outing set by figures with hood in a nearby street.
Nobody was injured during the test despite a number of bullets that entered the family's house, said Detective head inspector Simon Glasser.
“This was a very reckless and violent attack on an innocent family,” he said.
“We believe that there was a targeted attack. However, the target of the attack had moved from that house a few months ago. '
Superintendent Glasser said that the family was 'very shaken' after he was 'trapped in the crotch fire'.
Officers believe that they know who the intended target of the attack was and said they were known to the police.

A woman and her four young children are trapped in the sights of a suspected drive-by shooting in western Sydney, early on Saturday morning

Several cars were found by officers who were placed in an adjacent suburb shortly after the shooting in a neighboring suburb
The police said they are working to start how the shooting was linked to gangland activities.
“That is part of our research and part of our questions – about whether it is organized crime -related,” said superintendent Glasser.
“We do believe that we know who the target is, and it is not someone who lives at that address.”
It is believed that two men dressed in dark clothing and their favorite weapon was a 'rifle of a description', the superintendent added.
Shortly after the shooting police was called to nearby Chiswick Road, in the outskirts of Granville, where they found several cars on fire.
Detectives now revise CCTV images from the area.
A silver or gray Nissan X-Trail has been identified as driven in the area at the time of the shooting.
The same vehicle was also found in fire in Granville.

Officers have set up two place offense and are now investigating whether the attack is related to organized crime
Superintendent Glasser said the Nissan had been stolen months ago before it was eventually dumped after the shooting.
The police are trying to determine whether another vehicle was used during the suspect's outing.
'It's just a street where they decided to do it [dump the car] And could escape through Bushland, east to Auburn, “said superintendent Glasser.
“Everything we know at the moment is that they have left Chiswick Road on foot.”
A crime scenes have been established in the residence of the shooting and where officers found the cars burned.
Research is underway.
“We are investigating this with the seriousness it deserves and we will come for them,” said superintendent Glasser.
Anyone with information about the shooting was encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333,000
