Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez has been sentenced to five years in prison on the attempted murder of a man accused of sexual abuse of his four -year -old son.
In 2022, Velasquez shot on Harry Goularte during a chase. Velasquez missed Goularte but hit his stepfather with a bullet.
On Monday, Velasquez was sentenced to five years in prison in a courtroom of Santa Clara, California, although according to TMZ he received three years of credit.
Allegedly, Goularte's family asked for a longer sense of Velasquez than what he got. Goularte is now confronted with a crime accusation of lusty actions with a minor and is planned for a trial on 2 June.
Velasquez, who was said to have been pronounced on Monday, had previously concluded a deal with prosecutors to prevent a life sentence after various delays from the trial.
Velasquez previously recognized on the Kyle Kingsbury podcast 'what I did' and that 'what I did was very dangerous for other people.

'Not only people involved, but for innocent people. I understand what I did and I am willing to do everything I have to pay back. '
'What the court also feels good for what I have to do, I'm going to do it with my head up and still be me and don't play the debt game. It was I who did that and responded that way. '
Velasquez added that he has forgiven the Goularte family who carried out the daycare center where the alleged molestering took place.
“Even with that family and what they have done, I can't hate them that way,” he said. “Because there are things that I have to go through and give love to my children and give love to the people in the neighborhood.”
The MMA career of Velasquez was emphasized by its two UFC title profits. He won the title by beating Brock Lesnar in 2010 before he lost Junior Dos Santos in his first defense. He would regain the title in their Rematch 2012 and dropped to Fabricio Werdum in 2012.
He retired in 2019 with a 14-3 record after being eliminated by Francis Ngannou.
