Supermarket giant Morrisons has hundreds of jobs that run the risk of bringing redundancy, because it announces that it will delete a number of cafés and stores.
The company says that a 'broad evaluation' has identified different areas where the costs of activities 'are considerably outside the line with use, volumes or the value that customers place on them'.
A 'Number of changes will be proposed' in the coming months, including specifically the closure of 52 cafés, all 18 market kitchens, 17 convenience shops, 13 florists, 35 meat entails, 35 fishermen and four pharmacies.
Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, said: 'The changes that we announce today are a necessary part of our plans to renew Morrisons and to breathe new life into and enable us to concentrate our investment in the areas that really appreciate customers and that can play a complete role in our growth.
'Morrison's cafés are rightly famous for well -priced food of great quality, their place in the local community and their attractive mix of traditional favorites in addition to exciting new dishes.
'At most locations, the Morrisons-Café has a bright future, but a minority has specific local challenges and at those locations unfortunately closing and re-allocation of the space is the only sensible option.

'Market Street is a beacon of differentiation for Morrisons and we remain dedicated in it. But while we modernize, we make some necessary changes to the areas of the model that are simply oneconomic. In some stores where we close counters or cafés, we are planning to collaborate with third parties to offer a relevant specialist offer. '
'Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the general scale of the Morrisons activities, we do not take the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues. Of course we will mainly take care of them all well because of the coming changes. '
This is a crushing new story. More to follow
