The police are looking for the country for the most wanted 12-year-old of Great Britain that is accused of using a BMW to drive away with a holiday caravan.

The young person, a member of the traveling community, would appear before magistrates last week, but would not come in.

Without a permanent address to go, the court had no choice but to carry out an arrest for the young fugitive and the police are currently searching the country.

It is now more than a year since the boy – who was 11 years old at the time – was arrested by the police at the wheel of a BMW X5, although he could hardly look over the wheel.

The 4×4, which reportedly cloned cloned number plates, had hit a caravan 40 miles along the A1M in North Yorkshire after he had disappeared from a holiday park in Thirsk.

When the police finally caught up with the young person, he had reached the London-bound M1 at Garforth just outside Leeds.

The boy would appear on Friday, March 14 for Harrogate Magistrates' Court.

A spokesperson for the court said: 'A juvenile would appear before Harrogate magistrates charged with theft of a motor vehicle of unknown value, the dangerous driving and stolen goods are treated, namely a caravan.

“The defendant is not present and an arrest warrant has been issued.”

People in Thirsk are waiting for the outcome of the case since the alleged theft took place on 7 March last year.

A local local said: 'The young boy comes from the traveling community, so it took a while to get the case to court because he and his family are going around, so it is difficult to contact.

“Now it seems that he did not appear to the court, so they have published an arrest warrant – but if there is no address to serve it, they will have a job in their hands.”

When the caravan was stolen, the owner Janine Forth, from Leeds, went to Facebook and posted: 'We arrived on the caravan site just when they had recorded it and rode away with it.

'If it [hadn’t] For quickly thinking and the amazing reaction of the police, God knows what would have happened. '

She added that the caravan had 'all up -to -date security', which was happy when she claimed that 'the first thing they did when they broke in was the front destroyed to remove the tracker'.

'I can only say that for those who leave their pets in their caravan while they go out, please not! Thank goodness, ours were safe with us, “she said.

After the theft, Sergeant Paul Cording said that he “had trouble understanding” what he found when the car was persuaded, even though he had a service with the police for 23 years.

Sergeant Cording said: 'Even after more than 23 years of service you come across things that you have trouble understanding.

“Like yesterday, a great fast work of the team identified a recently stolen caravan that was dragged by a vehicle on false signs, but to discover that the driver was only 11 years old!”

The Force recommends that all owners take measures to try to scare thieves, such as installing CCTV, fitting alarms and tracking devices, and taking good quality photos of their vehicle to help the police identify when it is stolen.
