Liberal Californians were fiercely taken against a renowned restaurant in Los Angeles after a co-owner had praised Elon Musk's plans to open a Tesla dinner.
Walter Manzke, co-owner of the beloved French restaurant and Bakkerij République, came under fire when he expressed enthusiasm about Musk's All-Night Tesla Dinner who opened at Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.
“It sounds exciting,” Walter told the New York Times and added that his wife and co-owner Margarita said she wants to buy a Tesla. “So I can tell you which side she is standing.”
The short explanation led to an enormous indignation among Musk-Hath-Redditors, which devoted a whole thread to bashing the couple.
Hundreds of heated commentators came in to denounce the Manzkes under a post entitled 'It seems that Republique is from my list'.
“What an idiot,” said a user in response to Walter's feeling. “Why should you open your fat mouth and have to alienate at least half of your customers?”
“That said, this will go unnoticed by the vast majority of people and probably have no influence on the issues at Republique at all.”
But others were not so certain that Walter's remark would be swept under the carpet.

Walter and Margarita Manzke were attacked after Walter told the New York Times that he was enthusiastic about Elon Musk's restaurant plans

Beloved Frans Restaurant and Bakkerij République is known for its fresh pastries, made by Margarita
Others stated that they 'absolutely never go back' to the Michelin star establishment and said it is an 'easy boycott'.
Various comments came from people who claim to know the Manzkes personally – and not to like it.
'If someone in the industry, I don't go to a Manzke etblissement. They are horrible, “someone wrote.
Another person said, 'I worked for [Margarita] A few years .. She loves Trump. The first time voted for him and was very proud of it. '
In an attempt to relieve part of the tension on social media, République posted an Instagram statement about Walter's New York Times citulation.
The message reads: 'At République we believe in concentrating on what we do best – exceptional food and create a hospitable experience for all our guests.
'In response to a recent article in the New York Times, we want to clarify that the quote about the possible buying of a Tesla was just about exploring options for electric vehicles, not a political explanation.
'We appreciate innovation and sustainability, and we respect all points of view. République does not take political positions; We are here to create a space for everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs. '

Elon Musk has built a 'fat, meets the jetsons with supercharging' dinner in West Hollywood

Margarita 'loves Trump', according to a Reddit user who claimed to have worked for the award-winning pastry chef
But instead of acting as a claim for damages, this message seemed to have added only fuel to the fire.
One critic wrote: “Don't” take an attitude “against Nazism, supports Nazism …”
Another agreed: 'No joke. I certainly do not respect all the points of view, that does not mean what they think it does.
“If you respect an imperialist, fascist and authoritarian government that is currently driving people against our laws and programs that will lead to the bankruptcy of its citizens and death, in some cases, for those we have supported abroad, I don't respect that.”
The New York Times article that had catalyzed these hard reactions was about the 'retro-futuristic dinner' of the Doge leader that was built in Los Angeles.
Musk has spoken about these plans since 2018, when he placed them on X, which was Twitter at the time.
In 2023, the Tech -Mogul described his idea as 'Grease meets the Jetsons with Supercharging'.
It is unclear when Musk's combination of a drive-in theater, charging stations and a eatery will open its doors.
