Mystery continues to surround the death of the teenage son of New York Yankees champion Brett Gardner who died last week in a luxury Costa Rican Resort.
Miller Gardner, 14, is supposed to have died by Asphyxia 'after a possible intoxication' of taking polluted food, local officials told NBC News.
The teenager was found tragically on Friday morning in his room in the resort of Arenas del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest, in Manuel Antonio.
Other members of his family had also fallen ill during the trip, Brett Gardner and his wife Jessica shared in the announcement of the death of their son, which they added to have left 'so many questions'.
An autopsy and a toxicological report for the young Gardner are being treated and it can take a few weeks before his cause of death is officially confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Arenas del Mar Resort told DailyMail.com that the hotel fully cooperates with the study and is determined that it also comes to the bottom of what this tragedy has caused.

In the meantime, about 3,000 Americans die annually from food -handed diseases, including infections and intoxications, according to the CDC.
Food poisoning can cause indirect suffocation, but it is not considered a common direct cause of suffocating deaths. Most deaths due to food poisoning are caused by organ failure, dehydration or neurotoxic effects instead of blockage for respiratory tract.

It is still to be seen what Miller Gardner's death has activated.
His destroyed family told Costa Rican officials that they believe they have suffered food poisoning.
It is not known what the boy ate before his death or how long his family had shown symptoms of food poisoning before the tragic discovery was made.
Common sources of food differences are often caused because food is treated, stored or omitted for too long.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Arenas del Mar Resort said: 'We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts go to the family during this incredibly difficult time.
'The factors that have led to this tragic incident are unknown and we work completely with authorities while investigating.
“We are committed to supporting our guests and staff, giving priority to their well -being and safety, with respect for the privacy of the affected ones.”
According to its website, the Resort offers experts of naturalistic guides and a 'stimulating, colorful and exciting' food menu.
'Only the best ends on your plate', reads a passage on his website and adds that guests will eat 'Only the freshest ingredients' during their stay in the two restaurants, the Playitas beach restaurant and Mirador Oceanview Restaurant.
Moreover, the luxury hotel offers what it calls a 'dock to dish' program for the fish it serves to guests.
Brett and Jessica Gardner announced the death of their son for the first time in the weekend in a heartbreaking explanation.
“With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the death of our youngest son, Miller,,” said the statement.
“He was 14 years old and left us far too quickly after he got sick, along with various other family members during the vacation.”
They added: “We currently have so many questions and so few answers, but we do know that he died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed “the death of an American citizen in Costa Rica on March 21.”
The US Department of Foreign Affairs said to the New York Post: 'We are closely aware of the investigation of the local authorities into the cause of death.
“Out of respect for the privacy of the family and loved ones during this difficult time, we currently have no further comment.”
The family is said to work together with local authorities to bring Miller's body back to the United States, where further tests can be performed.
Brett Gardner, 41, played 14 seasons at the Yankees between 2008 and 2021 and was part of their World Series-winning team 2009.
He was an American competition All-Star in 2015 and won a Gold Glove in 2016.
New York coaches Aaron Boone and Joe Girardi shared their heartbrake about Miller's death news.
“We are talking about being about family all the time, and although Brett has been gone for a few years, it doesn't stop,” Boone, the current manager of the team, told reporters.
'Many people within it [the clubhouse] who know that family intimate. It is a very tough day and very tough news. '
“As good as we can, we will pray for the Gardner family and where we can offer support,” he added. 'That is quite the unimaginable that we are unfortunately with it. Very sad. Very difficult. '
The Yankees have also released a statement, Mourning Miller's death.
“Our hearts are tough and the Yankees family is filled with grief after learning the death of Miller Gardner,” the team said.
'Words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It was not only Brett who grew up in this organization for more than 17 years – also his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller. '
