Donald Trump has announced its choice to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Trump revealed on Monday that he has chosen Susan Monarez, the acting director of the office since January, to take on the role permanently.
If her nomination is confirmed by the Senate, she will be the first CDC leader in 50 years that is not a doctor – but Trump is adamant to have what is needed.
'Dr. Monarez brings tens of years of experience, for champion innovation, transparency and SRONG Public Health Systems, 'the president wrote about Truth Social.
Trump further explained that Monarez, an old federal employee, will work closely with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to “make America healthy again!”
“Americans have lost confidence in the CDC because of political bias and disastrous mismanagement,” the president said.
Monarez is a globally renowned researcher with more than two decades in health innovation.
The nominee holds a doctorate in microbiology and immunology at the University of Wisconsin.

The shocking nomination -pick comes about two weeks after the president suddenly withdrew his original nomination by Dave Weldon
'As an incredible mother and dedicated civil servant, Dr. understands Monarez the importance of protecting our children, our communities and our future, “he said.
Trump's traditional nomination-pick comes less than two weeks after the White House his appointment of Dr. Dave Weldon had withdrawn for the director of the CDC for his confirmation hearing.
Weldon, a doctor and former congressman from Florida, was drained by Trump to lead the CDC.
People who are familiar with the situation, however, said that Axios was concerned about the Trump government about Weldon's criticism of vaccines.
CDC directors have the task of making vaccine recommendations. It is unclear what the exact positions of Moarez are on vaccines.
Weldon was closing closely with RFK, who was one of the leading anti-vaccin activists of the nation.
But one of the sources who spoke with Axios claimed that RFK said that Weldon was not suitable for the role.
Weldon said the news broadcasts that his nomination was withdrawn because “there were not enough voices to get me confirmed.”

Current and former CDC employees revealed to the Associated Press that Monarez has not held a 'All-Hands' meeting at the agency in the past two months and has not been a current leader.
The New York Times reported that she spent weeks away from Atlanta. A commentary part on the internal website of the CDC for employees to share their thoughts would be allegedly disabled after people said they wanted more communication with her.
“She has communicated almost nothing with staff,” said a current employee anonymously.
Higher UPS within the CDC reportedly interpreted Trump's executive orders with little to no guidance from Monarez.
Monarez reportedly gave priority to the relationship of the CDC with the White House and the HHS.
For example, she worked with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) to plan CDC reductions, a former officer told the New York Times.
