A woman died after being hit by a car trying to avoid the police.
The crash, which took place shortly after 3 p.m. outside a school in Edgware, Northwest Lounds, was seen by parents and children.
A limited woman was treated on the spot by police officers and paramedics, but could not be saved despite their efforts.
The vehicle that collided with the victim was 'drove away from the police' prior to the fatal collision, the metropolitan police said.
The police thought that the car, which fled the scene of the crash, left shortly later, but is still busy finding the driver.
An arrest needs to be made.
A statement issued by the Metropolitan Police this afternoon was: 'Shortly before 15: 10 am on Tuesday 25 March, a car collided with a female pedestrian in Graeme Park Way, NW9.
'The car was driven away from a police vehicle before the collision took place.

'Officers treated the woman prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, however, the woman died on the spot.
'The car did not stop, but was abandoned a short time later. The work is underway to find the occupants of the car.
'There have been no arrests and questions have continued.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: 'We were called today at 3.08 pm [25 March] Reports of a traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
'We have sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance teams, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incidental repon officer. We also sent the London Air ambulance.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was declared dead on the spot.”
