Russia has influenced the 'white house policy' with propaganda about the Ukraine war, Volodymyr Zenskyy claimed last night.
In an interview that was released when peace talks started, the Ukrainian president pointed to a 'high-level patron' of high-level in the government of Donald Trump who took Vladimir Putin on his word-included claims that Kyiv did not want the war to end.
It came when a children's hospital in the city of Sumy was hit yesterday by a Russian rocket, causing almost 90 people – including 17 children – to be injured.
Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, said last night that Russia “should stop bombing our cities and put an end to the war against civilians” instead of “hollow statements about peace.”
President Trump has insisted on a rapid end of the three-year war and hopes that the final round of conversations in a luxury hotel in Saudi Arabia will pave the way for a breakthrough.
The conversations are split into two separate parts of the hotel in Riyad, with our negotiators who go back and forth between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.
The meeting is aimed at agreeing a first ceasefire in the Black Sea, whereby negotiators insist on a resumption of the annual agreement that had sent millions of tons of grain and other food output from the ports of Ukraine.
“The issue of the Black Zee initiative and all aspects related to the renewal of this initiative is on the agenda,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. “This was President Trump's proposal and President Putin agreed. It was with this mandate that our delegation traveled to Riyad. '

But in his interview with Time Magazine, Mr. Zensky said: 'I believe that Russia has succeeded in influencing some people in the White House team through information. Their signal for the Americans was that the Ukrainians do not want to end the war and that something must be done to force them. '
The Lord Zensky also referred to his television -row with Mr Trump in the Oval Office last month, and added: “At that moment there was the feeling of not being allies.”
The special envoy of Mr Trump, Steve Witkoff, said on the weekend that he expected 'only real progress' in the conversations, and that a break in hostilities in the Black Sea 'would of course be attracted to a complete shooting fire'.
Moscow, however, has played the possibility that a cease -fires are moving rapidly, where Mr. Peskov says that many aspects of a deal still have to be decided, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moscow said that the current negotiations would not be expected to cause a breakthrough. “
Downing Street has said that Sir Keir Starmer is not concerned with Mr. Witkoff who is rejecting the Premier's plan for a 'coalition of willingness' – consisting of European and NATO countries to retain peace in Ukraine – a 'combination of an attitude and a pose'.
