Destroyed baseball legend Brett Gardner and his wife are confronted with new pain about the Mystery Vacation Death of Son Miller because a murderous war between drug gangs in Costa Rica delays its autopsier results with months, DailyMail.com can exclude exclusively.
The couple now have to wait up to 90 days to know exactly how their 14-year-old boy died in the Central American country where bodies accumulate in a hair-raising peak in murders that all autopsies need, a top official in the judicial research agency of the Middle American country.
Juan Pablo Alvarado Garcia told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview at his office in the capital San Juan: 'We have a walk in murders while these drug gangs fight for territory and each of them needs an autopsy.
'I can confirm that an autopsy has been performed on Miller, but the complete analysis and results, such as in each of them, will take at least two to three months because of these constant murders that cause a backlog of cases. That is the reality. '
Costa Rica has had almost 1,800 murders in the last two years, almost 17 for every 100,000 of the population.
Most murders were attributed to Narco traffic groups, where one report claimed that 63 percent of the murders were performed by Hitmen Settling scores.

Miller Gardner (second right) died at the weekend, his parents Brett and Jessica announced on Sunday

Miller was found dead in his room at the luxurious Arenas del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort in Manuel Antonio on Friday morning after he and his family had dinner in a nearby restaurant the previous evening

Juan Pablo Alvarado Garcia of the Costa Rica judicial investigation agency said
Miller was found dead in his room at the luxurious Arenas del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort in Manuel Antonio on Friday morning after he and his family had dinner the previous evening in a nearby restaurant.
Alvarado revealed to DailyMail.com that the New York Yankees Hall of Famer Gardner, Vrouw Jessica, Miller and older brother Hunter, 16, all later that evening serious stomach cramps, vomiting and Diarhea suffered.
He said that the resort doctor was called immediately and she gave them all the medication to combat the symptoms.
But in a surprising new development, he revealed that medical experts now investigate whether Miller might have had a bad or allergic reaction to medicines they received to alleviate the sudden disease.
“We do toxicological tests to determine if this medicine could have caused death,” he told DailyMail.com.
He also said that they were investigating whether Miller brought an existing bacterial infection after he had traveled to the Pacific Coast Resort from the parental home in Summerville, South Carolina.

The entire Gardner family fell sick the night before Miller was found dead, a new theory that was brought forward by the medical experts from the country, is the 14-year-old who may have had a negative response to the medicine that brought the resortarts to their room to combat their symptoms

The high officer said there was no indication that death was due to recreational drugs or alcohol.
In a scenario of shifting statements, Alvarado told DailyMail.com that researchers had taken a previously promoted possible cause of death after 'possible food poisoning'.
However, he also exclusively revealed that food samples from which the Gardners dined on Thursday 20 March were taken for analysis.
If food is a factor in death, there may be a persecution in which the restaurant is involved, Alvarado added.
In a different turn to the astonishing matter, a local eatery has emerged and a strong denial issued that it had something to do with Miller's death, without being called public.
Le Papillon Restaurant in the nearby Hotel La Mariposa said: 'We would like to clarify that the Gardner family was dining in our restaurant … on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 18, 2025 – three days before Miller's tragic death.

Miller's body is currently being held in the mortuary in the forensic medical clinical section of the judicial agency in San Joaquin de Floris, just outside San Jose.
“The family has not yet been able to pick up the body because they are still waiting for all the procedures that the American embassy needed here,” Alvarado told DailyMail.com.
He said he didn't know where the gardners are staying.
'Miller's body can be repatriated to the United States at any time from the point of view of autopsy. All samples needed for the results have been taken. '
Of the confusion with the early death report, he said: 'When our agents showed up on the scene, they saw the body with vomit in the mouth and nose passages.

'So they gave a provisional report with the text that the reinforcement could have been because of the vomit.
'We went with that version because the night before the family went to dine outside the hotel where they stayed and they all started to feel sick when they returned.
“But once there was a deeper examination with the autopsy, the doctor found no deviations in the airways.
“Now we are focused on three areas as a possible cause of death: toxicology, neuropathology (diseases of nervous system) and histology (the microscopic structure of tissues and organs).”
