In his budget answer tonight, opposition leader Peter Dutton will announce a major cost of living for millions of Australians by halving Fuel tax for everyone who controls a motor vehicle.
“The coalition strives for supporting families and companies and alleviating the costs of living that everyone throughout the country now feels,” Mr Dutton told Daily Mail Australia.
Fuel outputs on gasoline and diesel currently costs 50.8 cents per liter.
Mr Dutton will use his speech of the budget answer to announce plans to reduce the hated load to just 25.4 cents per liter for the coming 12 months, so that the fuel price at the Bowser is drastically reduced.
'If we are chosen, we will halve the fuel batches for 12 months. Housing traffic to work, bringing the children to school or sport, the family drive or the trip to the stores will all cost less costs under the coalition. Our plan will save many hundreds of dollars for families throughout Australia, “argued the opposition leader.
Mr Dutton also said that the legislation set by the excise duty would be introduced on the first sitting day of the next parliament, so that the cut can come into force as quickly as possible.
“We will immediately deliver this costs of living, while people have to wait 15 months for Labor's 70 cents a day a Tax Tweak,” Mr Dutton said, referring to Labor's budget announcement from a reduction of 1 percent to the lowest marginal tax rate that only comes into effect on July 1, 2026.

The prime minister is expected to call the next elections this weekend in an attempt to take advantage of any momentum that the federal budget has given possible.
