Hurghada is a popular tourist destination for British and Germans and various nautical trips from the coast.
This is not the first time that an incident with tourist boats has taken place in the waters off the coastal city.
In November last year, a tourist boat called Sea Story dropped for the Red Sea Coast of Egypt.
The boat dropped near Shaab Satayah, a coral reef popular for diving trips, from the tourist resort of Marsa Alam in the early hours of November 25.
Those who escaped the ship said that a 'High Sea Wave' had touched and made sure it was in 'about five or seven minutes', said the Red Sea greur Amr Hanafi at the time.
The incident took place during raw weather conditions, in which the Egyptian Red Sea Ports Authority wave heights of 10 to 13 feet and wind speeds of 34 knots in the area reported, which led to the closure of maritime traffic.
The boat left for a diving trip from the port of Ghalib in Marsa Alam on November 24 and was planned to arrive in Hurghada Marina on November 29.
Some survivors were reportedly flown back to the coast by a helicopter to receive medical care, while others were transported by another boat.
UK researchers said there had been 16 incidents last month with 'LiveaBoard' ships in the area in the past five years, with a number of resulting in deaths.
