A leading F1 reporter has given an important update on the health of Michael Schumacher, more than 11 years after his tragic ski accident.
F1 legend Schumacher – who won seven world championships – was involved in the incident in December 2013 that left him in a medically induced coma. Since then he has not appeared publicly.
The German is provided by a team of medical staff and his wife Corinna in their house in Lake Geneva, but little has been made public about his condition.
The Schumacher family remains very protective against his privacy and it is clear that many of their good friends and relationships are not even sure about the state of his health.
However, Felix Gorner, a reporter for the German broadcaster RTL, has lifted the lid to fans about the status of Schumacher and revealed that he 'can no longer communicate orally'.
“The situation is very sad,” said Gorner, who is seen as one of the journalists closest to the Schumacher family and a reliable source for his health.

'He needs constant care and is completely dependent on his caregivers. And he can no longer express himself verbally. '
Gorner also commented on the general situation on Schumacher and the private character of his life since the tragic accident in 2013.
“Currently there are a maximum of 20 people who can approach Michael,” he added.
'And in my opinion it is the right strategy. Because the family acts in Michael's best interests. They have always strictly protected his privacy, and that has not changed. '
Schumacher, who is now 56, is one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, which has claimed the world title in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.
He also added 71 fastest laps and 155 podiums to his name during his iconic racing career.
Mick Schumacher – who is Michael's son – followed in the footsteps of his father in F1 when he drove to Haas in 2021 and 2022 and finished 19th and 16th respectively.
However, he was dropped for the 2023 season in favor of veteran Nico Hulkenberg and after he had succeeded for Mercedes for two years, he now competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Alpine.

In the meantime, Gorner's comments come after Elisabetta Gregoraci, the ex-wife of the former F1 team boss Flavio Briatore, had previously revealed how Schumacher communicates.
“Michael doesn't speak, he communicates with his eyes,” she said. 'Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.
“They moved to Spain and his wife set up a hospital in that house.”
Claims that Schumacher is unable to speak, seemed to be supported by his son, Mick, during a Netflix documentary from 2021 about the life of his father.
The 26-year-old driver said, “I think dad and I, we would now understand each other in a different way.”
In that Netflix documentary, his wife Corinna also gave a rare update about Schumacher.
She revealed that he continues to rehabilitate for the life -changing injuries he sustained and claimed that he is now 'different, but here'.
The last official update that fans received on Schumacher's condition in 2023, when it was reported that the seven-fold world champion was driven in a Mercedes AMG sports car in an attempt to stimulate areas of his brain that he once used for racing.
There were also reports that he appeared at the wedding of his daughter, Gina, last summer, but these were thrown by Schumacher's good friend Johnny Herbert as 'fake news'.
