The New York Yankees brought to Brett Gardner's deceased son Miller prior to their opening MLB match of the season after his tragic death in Costa Rica.
Miller, 14, was found dead in his hotel room while he was on holiday last week with Dad Brett and the rest of the Gardner family in the middle -American country.
In the midst of an investigation into what caused his sudden death, the Yankees honored the memory of the son of their former outfielder by holding a moment of silence for their season opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Both sets teams stood by the diamond to express their respect, just less than a week since the tragedy the Gardner family rocked.
“Miller had a spark in his eyes, an extrovert and spicy personality and a warm and loving nature,” said the Yankee Stadium that the PA system was announced.
'Miller grew up in the Yankees organization and had become an athlete with two sports and wore his father's number 11 on his football shirt.
