The wife of Rex Heermann returned to the court for a critical hearing about the Bombshell -DNA in the case – only a few hours after her divorce was completed by the man accused of being the notorious Gilgo Beach Serial Killer.
ASA Ellerup's lawyer Robert Macedonio told DailyMail.com on Friday that both parties had signed the divorce documents after he had visited Heermann in prison to go through the details with him.
Macedonio would not disclose the conditions of the conditions reached.
He added that Heermann seemed to do well behind bars, but was 'worried' about Ellerup and their two adult children Victoria and Christopher.
Despite the end of their marriage, Ellerup and Victoria appeared on Friday in the court in Riverhead, Long Island, to see a confrontation between the prosecution and defense about the DNA certificate in the case.
Haren from both Ellerup and Victoria were found on some of the accused victims of serial killer, according to public prosecutors.
Macedonio said that the family members in court wanted to be for the Frye hearing, because they look for 'closure' from the horrible case and want to understand exactly how their DNA was bound to the victims.
“It is important for their own closure that they find out how they came to their conclusions that it is ASA's DNA and the DNA is Victoria,” he said.

The office of Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney made it clear that the family was out of the city at the time of the murders and was not involved in one of the alleged crimes.
The defense asks the judge to throw away the DNA evidence that is said to bind Heermann to the murders, the technique used – whole genome seal – 'Magic'.
Public prosecutors fight back, whereby the first witness of experts testifies how the method is properly considered in the scientific community.
Heermann was the courtroom in Arthur Cromarty Criminal Courthouse in Riverhead in Riverhead for the hearing around 10.15 am et Friday.
The 61-year-old colossal architect, dressed in a suit and blue and pink striped shirt, had fascinated his hands behind his back while towering the security officers of the court.
He casually told an officer 'no problem' when he was accompanied to sit among his lawyers.

The hearing came only a few hours after the wife of Heermann Asa Ellerup had completed her divorce against the suspected serial killer. Shown: Ellerup and her lawyers in July
During the procedure of the day, he did not seem to make an eye contact with his now ex-wife and adult daughter who were in the third row of the public gallery, staring straight ahead.
The accused serial killer is currently accused of the murders of seven women over a two-decades of horror that runs from 1993 to 2011.
The Serial Killer case of Gilgo Beach had chased the Long Island community for more than a decade, since the first of several bodies were discovered past Ocean Parkway in December 2010.
More than a decade later, in July 2023, the Massapequa Park Local Local was then arrested dramatically when he left his office in Midtown Manhattan.
Heermann was initially accused of the murders of three women: Amber Costello, Melissa Barthelemy and Megan Waterman.
Since then he has been accused of the murders of four more victims: Maureen Brainard barnes, Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack.
All the victims worked as sex workers when they disappeared after they meet a customer.
Their bodies were found dumped along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach and other remote places on Long Island.
Some victims were bound, others were disintegrated and their remains thrown away at several locations.

The 61-year-old has not guilty of all charges against him.
His defense tries to split the case into five separate tests.
The judge still has to say about this.
In the Frye hearing on Friday, Judge Timothy Mazzei heard a witness from the expert witness to the State Dr. ir. Kelley Harris while the persecution is fighting to keep the most important DNA certificate in the case.
According to public prosecutors, the DNA analysis had linked Heermann or individuals who lived with him – including Ellerup, Victoria and a person known as 'witness 3' – to six of the seven victims by Haren who are found on the spot or on the murdered women.
The defense claims that the technology has never been tested before in a court in New York – and wants it to be excluded from its trial.
Harris, a associate professor of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington who has won various prizes for her work on genetics, testified throughout the day, in which it is explained how the entire genome seal can be used to develop a DNA profile – in this case the Harenbron found in the bodies of the victims.

Valerie Mack (left) disappeared in 2000 and parts of her body were discovered in Long Island in November. Jessica Taylor (right) disappeared in 2003, with some of her remains found in Manorville that year
Harris repeated several times that the method is 'general accepted' within the scientific community.
During a fiery cross-hearing, Heermann's lawyer Michael Brown sparkled with Harris and tried to arouse doubts about her credibility as a witness expert on the genetic method.
Under peppery interrogation, Harris was forced to admit that she is not an expert in forensic science.
Brown staggered a list of topics of papers on which she has worked – including molluscs, red wolves, polar bears, mice and large monkeys – and asked the relevance of her experience for the DNA analysis in a criminal case.
Harris stood on the ground and the lawyer corrected on various statements of expert terms and the provocation of laughter in court when she rejected his claim that someone can use genetic genealogy databases such as 23 and me to find out if they are related to Napoleon.
In a press conference outside the courthouse, Brown continued to explain the 'magical' method used by officers in the case.
Multiple witnesses are expected to be called up for the prosecution and the defense in the coming weeks before the court gives a decision about the admissibility of the DNA certificate.
The next hearing will take place on Wednesday with another witness for the prosecution.

In addition to the DNA certificate, public prosecutors said that researchers also found a horrifying 'planning document' on a hard disk in the basement of the Heermann family tube in Massapequa Park.
In the spooky document, he reportedly had a section Detailed 'Prep' and noted that 'small' women were preferred.
The fear that a serial killer or murderers were on Long Island in May 2010 started one evening in May 2010, when Shannan Gilbert disappeared one night in bizarre circumstances.
The 24-year-old, who worked as an escort, went to a customer in the community of Oak Beach Association when she had a frightening 911 call and said someone was trying to kill her.
During a search for Gilbert in December 2010, officers came across Barthelemy's body in the swamps by Gilgo Beach.
Within a few days three bodies – Costello, Brainard -Barnes and Waterman – were found.
The four victims, who became known as the Gilgo Four, were dumped within a quarter of mile, some of them bound and wrapped in jute.

In the following months, the remains of seven other victims were found.
Gilbert's body was found last. Researchers claim that she was not a victim, but died by accidental drowning after she fled into the dense bush that night.
Heermann has not been charged in connection with the death of the other four victims: Karen Vergata and three still non-injured victims, only known as' Asian Doe ',' Peaches' and Peaches' toddler daughter.
In the meantime, Costilla was never linked to the Serial Killer case of Gilgo Beach until Heermann was hit by charges for her murder in 2024.
Her murder expands the timeline that the suspect serial killer is said to have actively hunted victims.
Van Heermann is expected to return to court personally on Wednesday.
