The 31-year-old victim, not mentioned, was put on track on the busy Massy-Palaiseau station in Esonne, south of Paris.
Doctors explained an emergency when she was taken to the hospital with head trauma on Monday before she eventually succumbed to her injuries.
The 23-year-old suspect, who was quickly arrested on the spot, was thought that he had suffered psychiatric disorders in the past and had escaped an institution in early March.
He was initially accused of 'voluntary murder', but will undergo a psychiatric investigation before officers of justice determine his sentence, according to ACTU17.
The office of the Évry officer of Justice has also started an investigation to determine the full details of the event.
After the incident, the RATP, which operates the RER Express trains, immediately put train traffic in both directions along the line.
Ten firefighters and five emergency aid vehicles were reportedly sent to the stage to handle the crisis.

The incident has expressed further concern about the safety of passengers on the railways of France, with 2023 a particularly fatal year for travelers.
In July of that year, on the same train line, another woman was pushed until her death on traces at the Cité university station.
The suspect, considered a repeated perpetrator, fled before he was arrested for shoplifting in another incident.
He was then transferred to a psychiatric unity after making incoherent statements to the police.
A 14-year-old American girl was killed when she fell at the same station for a regional train, and two homeless people who had ventured into a drunken state on the lines were hit by a train in Gaieté.

The Paris metro records around 60 deaths, euphemistically known as 'serious passenger accidents'. Almost all of these include people who take their own lives.
