The gap between full-service airlines and budget carriers is increasingly disappearing, according to a new report.
Legacy US Airlines such as American Airlines, Delta and United – Plus people such as British Airways and Air France in Europe – once offered benefits, such as free seats, checked luggage and free hot meals.
Nowadays these services are no longer guaranteed, even on so-called full-service carriers.
This shift makes the experience on Legacy Airlines more and more comparable to that of newer budget carriers such as Spirit and Frontier, says a new report from the Telegraph.
Almost all North American airlines, for example, now exclude a checked luggage from Basic Economy Tickets.
United has now gone one step further. It has a basic accommodation that only includes hand luggage that is small enough to fit under the chair for you.
It means that passengers have to pay more to take a small suitcase in the cabin.
In January, Air Canada United and rolled out the same rule for its flights in North America and the Caribbean. There are fears Delta and American will follow.

Travel expert Gilbert Ott says that full-service airlines have now gone 'a step too far' by cutting their recorded services.
“By removing full-sized hand luggage as a full-service airline, you throw yourself square against the bottom of the market, which forces you to compete rights to price and almost only price,” that the aviation blog runs, Save the Points told the Telegraph.
“Full-service airlines are not allowed to do so much margin to operate the lowest paid passengers as a real cheap courier who has tightened this vessel over time.”
British Airways now charges extra charging for checked luggage and solid system for those who travel on basic tickets for economics.
Indeed, the majority of the 'Full -Service' airlines now no longer includes hold baggage or sto -system section for their cheapest tickets, a telegraph overview of 90 large airlines.

Legacy Airlines have also reduced their food and drink offers in recent years.

Airlines, including KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss and Finnair, have also removed their free food and drink options.
However, there are a few 'full-service' airlines that still offer economic passengers something that looks like their title.
These include Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Qatar Airways.
