Utah has become the first American state to prohibit fluoride from all public drinking water, with controversial plans by Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The law was signed on Thursday by Governor Spencer Cox and will take effect on 7 May for all public drinking water systems.
Fluoride was added to the American water in the 1940s after scientists discovered that people with higher levels of the mineral had fewer cavities.
According to the latest CDC data, almost half of the inhabitants of Utah with public water access drink fluoridated water, while half does not.
GOV Cox said on Thursday that between those two groups' you think you would see drastically different results. We don't have it. '
Health secretary RFK JR has also called for a long time that the mineral is stripped of the American water supply, and claims that the bone cancer, IQ loss and neurological disorders such as autism causes.
Last year, Florida became the first state to be recommended to remove fluoride from water systems because of the claims from Kennedy.
The research into the potential health effects of fluoride is mixed, and many experts have claimed that the evidence is unclear and the dental benefits of fluoride outweight potential risks.

Fluoride makes teeth more resistant to substances that can wear enamel – such as citrus, sugar -containing foods and carbonated drinks – that thin and weaken teeth and make them more sensitive.
This in turn prevents cavities and other dental infections.
And about 72 percent of Americans who use public water stocks, added drinking water with fluoride.
Since the national fluoridation was completed, the rates of dental problems in children have decreased and the program is praised by dentists.
For almost as long, critics have expressed their concern about the safety of fluoride.
