Fury broke out in the small Scottish town of Oban aan Zee after a brutal thief had stolen new roles from the Local Golf Club, only three hours after they were delivered.

Glencruitten Golf Club in the Argyll and Bute Town had the turf delivered to the parking lot at about 12.30 pm on March 18 at around 12.30 pm to do the eighth gap again.

Greenkeepers immediately took the first load there – but when they returned at about 3.45 pm for the rest, 12 rolls had disappeared, the tarpaulin over them was brutally removed.

Club secretary John Tannahill, 72, from Glasgow, said MailOnline: “The entire club is disgusted and worries that someone would have the knowledge to timse it in such a way.”

He thought that the value of the stolen goods was only 'in the low hundreds' and greenkeepers have since been able to complete work, which started in November, with new materials.

But it was more about the emotional impact, he explained: “Given the amount of work that the Greenkeepers had done to do it and then having all that trauma.”

They also wanted to be ready for the visit of the Scottish golfer Robert Macintyre this week – it's his home course and his father is head of Greenkeeper there.

Despite the call from the social media of the club for the perpetrator to come forward, nobody – and the suggestions of members to fly a drone over the city to see if someone's garden suddenly looked fresher.

Mr. Tannahill calculated the thief, who shamelessly removed the large stones in the pile of grass in the parking lot, is locally.

He said: 'It would have been simple enough to see the delivery coming. So it would not necessarily need someone who knew it would come.

“They may have just been someone who passes that way and saw that it was delivered and then the chance went back, and discovered that the parking space was empty, so could continue and do it.”

The club placed a appeal to social media last weekend: 'We have screenshots of the theft of a number of Balen Turf that was stolen from the parking lot in the golf club earlier this week.

“If the 'person' involved now comes to the fore, we will not pursue this with the police.”

Unfortunately, nobody has come clean yet, the secretary said: 'It is really very annoying, but to be honest, I did not expect that I would get a response from the individual.

“What I thought I might have received was someone who indicated who it was.”

They have some photos of a neighbor of the theft in action, he added: 'But it is quite far away and it cannot be concentrated again, so there is not enough details.

“We have an individual, we know what he is wearing, we know the color of the car, but that's really all we have.”

With 'absolutely nothing' more information of information, Mr Tannahill – who lives in Glasgow but has a property in Oban – that there is 'no sense' that it is striving for the police.

Club members had thought that a way at Sleuth would be for the perpetrator to look at local gardens, to see if someone's lawn suddenly looked a lot fresher.

A specific suggestion about how to do this was quickly shot, he said: “There was quite a few talking about it in the club, suggestions that we have to set up a drone to view all the gardens and things like that.”

But the secretary thought it was unlikely that they would now see the stolen rolls everywhere.

He said, “At this stage now, the turf, if it wasn't laid anywhere else, it would not be useful for anyone, it doesn't take that long if it is in bales.”

It is the first time that the club has been stolen, Mr Tannahill explained: “It is also the largest project that has been on the track for several years.”

And Greenkeepers wanted to ensure that the course was in good condition for Mr Macintyre, the home of the Masters Tournament next month: “His father is very difficult to make sure it is.”

It is not the only bizarre theft that has happened throughout the country in recent weeks.

A cream -dear thief is banned from the entire province of Cambridgeshire after stealing £ 220.50 of the chocolate treats of a Peterborough gas station.

Deon de Groot, 26, was stopped when he tried to escape after stealing 70 from the Cadbury sweets from a Tesco Express store in the Dogsthorpe of the city last Saturday.

The perpetrator, of no fixed address, was banned on Tuesday to enter Cambridgeshire for the next three months and sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for Peterborough for a year.

It also follows the theft of a Paddington Bear statue by two RAFing engineers in the city of Newbury, Berkshire on March 2 -who was trapped at CCTV.

Daniel Heath and William Lawrence, both 22, broke the fiber optic model of the 'beloved' children's book character in the hometown of author Michael Bond.

Upon conviction, district judge Sam Goozee said that the act of the couple – ready after a day of drinking in Newbury Races – the 'antithesis of everything that Paddington was for'.

They both received a community statement, each of which had to pay £ 2,275 to cover the repair costs and to complete 150 hours of unpaid work for 12 months.
