I went to Disney's live action remake of Snow White in the lively West End in London – and I was practically the only one.
The iteration of 2025 of a beloved fairy tale disturbed feathers long before it hit screens a week ago.
A number of unfortunate controversies – head including the use of CGI dwarfs, comments from Ster Rachel Zegler and apparent edits to the original story – have left the film in a storm of poor publicity, and empties theater seats.
Videos of abandoned cinemas on snow -white impressions have flooded social media, with lonely theater visitors who show empty seats in rows in rows.
And last week I was one of them, although I initially enjoyed the luxury.
Having a Leicester Square Hall in Art Deco style for yourself is not a bad performance. I had my coat on one chair, my bag on another – the 48 ft wide screen could have been in my living room.
But once I settled in my armchair, the novelty worn out.
The film itself was fun – the singing of Zegler was wonderful, the dialogue was not overly sentimental, the love story was sweet and there were even some funny moments.

But where possible collective chuckles or audible panting of a fully audience, there was only silence here – except when I choked a piece of popcorn.
In short, a bare wasteland does not provide an enchanting viewing atmosphere, no matter how good the film is.
And this film, no matter how good it is, will probably never get the chance to prove its value.
The thunderous criticism of the new Snow White is of his 'Wokess' – the inadent desire not to insult.
Casting Zegler – a woman of Colombian and Polish descent – has made many angry.
Although the corresponding racist eruptions are tasteless and disappointing, I have to agree with the underlying sentiment that the story is not completely capable of her.
In a half -hearted attempt to explain the name Snow White, we are told that the title character has survived a terrible snowstorm in her youth. Hm.
Inclusivity is certainly important. But Disney is completely about aesthetics.

The remakes of Live Action are dedicated to the original costume, the original songs, the original story – with only small tweaks here or there because viewers want to relive the powerful nostalgia of those first animated films.
It is a shame because Zegler really blinds in the role, although the 23-year-old has acted unconsciously as a strong deterrent for viewing her own performance.

“It's no longer 1937,” she said. “She's not saved by the prince and she won't dream about true love.”
Well (spoiler) she is. There are some miniscule adjustments to the love story, but the irony is that it has absolutely remained the same.
Snowy falls in love with a handsome goat who saves her from the curse of the queen with the kiss of true love. Sounds known? That's because it is.
Well -meaning Zegler is just a product of her age. I know what she means – the woman does not have to depend on the man and to trust him for salvation (etc. etc.). But at what time do we take things just too literally?
Love is not dated. What is dated, is feudalism, evil stepmothers, old men who are in love with a woman who is about sixteen times younger than them – who all appear in the remake of 2025, so why draw the boundaries in romance?

Zegler openly supported Palestinian rights and Gal Gadot – The Evil Queen – served a two -year stint in the Israeli army.
So the political differences of the stars have succeeded in alienating entire continents from viewers.
If her military past was not controversial enough, acting of Gadot did little to exchange her. Her cheekbones had more presence on the film than she and her performance was boring.
With regard to the dwarfs generated by the computer, there were two arguments.
Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who has a condition named Achondroplasia, said that the casting of small people in a film is based on a story that he already thinks would be 'backwards' is insulting to the disabled community.
And other campaigners of the disabled thought that actors with dwarf -like should have been given the opportunity to play the role, as long as it was free of harmful stereotypes.
But the famous voice of Dinklage was the loudest, so the production team tore the whole thing and wrongly, they thought, on the side of caution.
When it came to it, the CGI dwarfs were just disturbing.

And although the technology was advanced, it was not a patch on real people, whom I became quite used to seeing in live action films.
But don't be afraid! Disney suppressed all fears by casting an actor with dwarf -like elsewhere in the film. You can almost imagine that director Marc Webb stumbles over himself to reach the pen and check that box.
An insult, I think, for talented actors with dwarf -like who are reduced against expectations in a diversity rental.
While I was dutifully in my assigned chair (although there was really no need), it became clear that if this film had been released five years ago, it would have done his songs and had left the cash register quietly, just like other Disney Live Action Remakes for it.
The film is expected to last around $ 100 million during the first three days, but earned $ 87 million worldwide on the opening weekend, which granted it below the average status compared to other recent Live promotions.
It is still top of the American cash register for the time being, but that really doesn't say much different than his beating other films currently displayed in cinemas – a small victory for a Disney film.
Nowadays, people really don't have the stomach for annoying, virtue signaling that has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with the public sisses.
People are not angry with the film – they will never watch it – they are angry with the messy cocktail of political correctness that preceded it, and missed the goal every time.
