King Charles has sent a message of condolence to the people of Myanmar after the deadly earthquake that has demanded more than 1,000 lives.
Charles, 76, went to the hospital on Thursday after suffering from what Buckingham Palace described as 'temporary side effects' from his cancer treatment and later canceled a planned involvement in Birmingham the next day.
But the recovery of the prince of his short stay in the hospital has not prevented him from expanding his sympathies to the Southeast Asian country, which was hit on Friday by an earthquake with a force of 7.7.
More than 1,000 people are dead and 2,376 injured, according to the military government of Myanmar.
“My wife and I were the most terribly shocked and sad to learn from the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, with his tragic loss of life and horrible damage to houses, buildings and means of existence, not to mention the destruction of holy pagodas, monasteries and other places of worship,” Charles wrote on social media.
'I know that the people of Myanmar continue to endure so many hardships and tragedy in your life, and I have long admired your extraordinary resilience and spirit.
“On this most difficult and heartbreaking of times, my wife and I send our deepest possible sympathy for anyone who has suffered the deep tragedy to lose their loved ones, their houses and their precious livelihood.”
The earthquake had an epicenter near Mandalay, the second largest city in the country, which struck buildings in many areas and caused widespread damage.

The neighboring Thailand also experienced vibrations, with six people who were found dead so far and 26 injured in three construction sites, including a partially built high -rise buildings that collapsed in Bangkok.
Thai authorities said that another 47 people were still missing.
Charles is supposed to stay at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire after it was revealed that he had been in the hospital with side effects of his cancer treatment.
Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday evening that the King 'needed a short period of observation in the hospital earlier that day.
Charles appeared well on Friday morning when he left Clarence House in London in a black Audi.
