An NSW community was turned upside down after a popular teenage triathlete, which recently participated in a half-iron wind of New Zealand, was found dead in a Central Coast Creek.
The police of Brisbane Water Police District started an investigation after officers found the body of a 19-year-old woman in Erina Creek at about 5 pm on Sunday 23 March.
A crime scene was established and although the circumstances surrounding the woman's death are not confirmed, such asPoke players said that a report will be drawn up for the coroner. It is understood that officers do not treat her death as suspicious.
The young woman, who has been identified as Audrey Griffin on social media, was with her friends at the weekend and was spotted for the last time on Sunday at Gosford Hotel.
Mrs. Griffin had completed a tough, international new half-iron in Taupo, NZ in 6 hours, 40 minutes and 32 seconds two weeks before her death, and became 194th from 295 women.
A central coastal community page described her as a 'determined athlete, talented student and beloved teenager' who was a member of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club and the Terrigal Sharks Rugby League Club.
The page said that after completing high school in 2023, Mrs. Griffin divided her time between training, a part -time job at Crown Plaza Terrigal and studied at the University of Technology Sydney.
Mrs. Griffin was also a former teammate in the Ladies 3 team for Gosford Water Polo, where the club shared a statement on Friday.

“This tragedy has hit the many people who were lucky to know Audrey.
“Our thoughts are with Audrey's family and her extensive network of friends in the central coastal community.”
The club held a minute of silence for the L3 Grand Final on Saturday as a sign of respect.
Players who wanted to wear a black bracelet for the game were also offered tape.
The local population shared an outpouring of condolences on social media for the popular athlete.
“Rest in peace beautiful girl,” said a user.
“Send condolences and strength to her family and friends for this devastating time and hope that they will get more answers soon.”
Another commentator said, “This is just inscrutable.”
