Anthony Albanese slammed Peter Dutton to show 'Hubris' after the opposition leader said he would rather live in Syberra above Canberra if he was chosen as prime minister.

Choosing a main residence is one of the first decisions that an elected leader is asked to make after winning the government.

They can choose to live in the Lodge, a country house in Georgian Revival style in Canberra's Leafy Southern Suburbs, or Kirribilli House, a Gothic style mansion with a view of the gun of the shooting vessel of Sydney's shiny harbor from the rich lower north.

And Mr Dutton revealed on Monday morning that if the coalition becomes victors on 3 May, he will opt for the Emerald City above the capital of the National.

“If you have a choice between Kirribilli or live in Canberra and the lodge, it takes Sydney about Canberra every day,” he told the Kyle and Jackie O -Show.

'We love Sydney, love the port. It is a great city. '

But the prime minister has now accused Mr Dutton of showing 'Hubris' and 'measuring the curtains' when there were five debilitating weeks of campaigns to go and the election result still very much on a knife edge.

'I think a little reckless behind that comment. Measuring the curtains, “Mr. Albanese told reporters.

'I don't consider Australians for granted. As the Prime Minister of Australia, it is my job to represent the country.

“One of the frustrations that I think people in the West felt that earlier passengers of the lodge, of the premiership, saw themselves as Prime Minister of Sydney.”

Although he was a self -described 'Sydneysider', Mr. Albanese said that he believed that 'the prime minister should live in the lodge'.

'[Dutton] says he likes the harbor. You know, everyone loves the port. But it is your task to be close by where the Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet is, where meetings take place almost every day, “Mr Albanese added.

The most important stay of a prime minister has long been seen as a reflection of their priorities.

Although Kirribilli House is traditionally considered as the Premier's secondary official home, previous Liberal Prime Ministers John Howard, Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison used the house as such.

The choice of the opposition leader seems to reflect the contempt of the coalition for the public service based in Canberra, which the party has promised to beat the sector by no less than 41,000 jobs.

In his 2022 election, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed that he would live in the lodge full -time because he thought it was important to spend as much time as possible in Canberra.

In the meantime, Mr Dutton has been warned to focus on the multicultural communities of Sydney in the heart of his campaign.

While the coalition has attacked work on the level of pandemic immigration after the COVID-19, it intends to reduce 25 percent of the permanent intake of Australia.

Politicians had to contact the whole of Australia, former NSW Liberal Premier became the Australian ambassador in India Barry O'Farrell.

“This is Heartland Modern Australia and you just have to look around to see different nationalities,” he said AAP at an Assyrian New Year's festival in West Sydney.

“If you ignore multicultural communities, if you don't show an interest in them as you do with everyone in Australia, you won't win.”

Mr. Dutton leaned on his file as Minister of Immigration – when he was committed to resquiting another 12,000 people who are displaced by conflicts in Syria and Iraq – to tuck his references at an Assyrian festival on Sunday.

The move was welcomed by the community and he was received relatively well during the event, with the Assyrian national council chairman Hermiz Shahen grateful for the support of Mr Dutton.

The opposition leader then announced that he would give the Al Madinah mosque in Leppington $ 25,000 for CCTV and security upgrades so that people could practice their faith in peace.

Asked whether Mr Dutton's rhetoric about migration would harm the coalition in multicultural communities, Mr O'Farrell said that “his salvation of a number of ethnic groups in times of conflict only shows that it doesn't matter which party you are.”

“We embrace multiculturalism,” he said.

Mr Dutton has committed himself to revealing which migration programs will be cut under his policy before the voters conclude the polls.
