A woman was arrested after the body of a newborn baby was discovered outside of a church last week.
Officers of the with Police were called last Tuesday at 12:46 pm to the All Saints Church on Talbot Road in Notting Hill after the body of the baby boy was found.
A council attacker made the tragic discovery after spotting the dumped black M&S bag with avocados on it.
After an appeal by officers, a woman in the thirty was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of hiding a birth, neglect and child murder.
The woman, who was not mentioned for legal reasons, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she still remains.
A forensic post-mortem will take place later this week to understand more about the child's death.
Superintendent Owen Renowden, who leads the police work for Kensington and Chelsea said: “This is a continuous, fast investigation, in which officers work tirelessly to determine the circumstances of the baby boy's death.
'We believe that the woman is the mother's mother and I am reassured that she will get the support she needs, while officers continue their work to understand what was happening.

Last week a local resident, who had gone to All Saints' Church for the past six years, said that it was' incredibly tragic '.
Flowers tribute has been left on the spot on Talbot Road, where the baby was declared dead by paramedics.
The deputy director in the All Saints' Church in Notting Hill said that she had 'never heard anything like this in my life' after the discovery.
“I came here to prepare for the food bank and I saw a lot of police coming, and when I came out it was all recorded,” said Marcia Haynes.

Mrs. Haynes said that when she found out that a baby had died that it just panicked me, and I just had to give up what I did and go home because I thought I would get sick, to be honest.
“I've been here since 1966, I've never heard anything like this in my life.”
She said she left two female police officers in the church on Tuesday.
“Two female officers asked me if they could come in and search the church, and I let them in, and they searched the toilets and everywhere in the church,” said Mrs. Haynes.
“I assume they were looking for the mother in case she hid somewhere or something.”
A scaffolding that worked near the scene, who did not want to be called, said he saw a few in their late 1950s or early 60s near a Black Grit Bin on Tuesday around 10 a.m.
He said the man seemed to be trying to bind a bag while the woman said 'come on' and they left together.
Superintendent Renowden described the case last Wednesday as 'shocking and tragic', but said that his priority remains the 'well -being and support' of the mother.
Speaking with reporters in Notting Hill, he said: 'I know she will probably feel very scared and go through an extremely difficult time.
'If you are the baby's mother and you see this today, I want to address you directly to come forward and receive help.
“My priority is to help you, to ensure that you can get medical help.”
