An earthquake was detected on just kilometers from a massive volcano in Alaska who warned scientists in the coming weeks.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) detected a 3.7 Magnitude Quake at 11:44 am and near Petersville, which is approximately 30 miles northwest of Mount Spurr.
Mount Spurr, a volcano of 11,000 feet long, has experienced an increased seismic activity and ground surface relocation, which are signs of an eruption that, according to scientists, could happen in the coming weeks or months.
In recent days, the USGS has discovered hundreds of smaller vibrations within the radius of 30 miles of the volcano that is about 80 miles from Anchorage-the largest city in the state, home of nearly 300,000 people.
The seismic activity near Mount Spurr started in April 2024 and the number of events has risen from an average of 30 per week to an average of 125 per week at the beginning of October.
Tuesday's earthquake hit 65 miles under the surface, which would usually be related to tectonic plate movement.
But because Mount Spurr signs of unrest, the earthquake can be linked to magma that rises deeper into the cloak.

The USGs received only two reports of shaking in the region, but that was probably because it was sparsely populated.
The 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck seven hours after a 2. 5 Magnitude Quake in the same area. These were preceded by a 3.0 size that was detected a few miles away on Monday at 6.56 pm.
But the USGS only reflects 2.5 magnitude or higher earthquakes on the main dashboard.
On March 7, the volcano began to release raised gas levels from its top and a side opening that erupted for the last time more than 30 years ago.
The emissions combined with the increased seismic activity and soil distortion has set science on red alert.
Anchorage officials raised the emergency planning level last week to level 2, which means that they will increase communication with the public about the threat and the public safety authorities will prepare for starting outburst response protocols.
The eruption would most likely take place at the crater peak, and 'it would be explosive', Matt Haney, the responsible scientist at the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) at US Geological Survey (USGS) said Dailymail.com.
This event would spit several plumes of Ash that rise to 50,000 feet in the air, Haney said.

Each ascoducing explosive episode would last three to four hours, and the resulting cloud could cover the city of Anchorage and other nearby communities in a thick layer of dust.
The eruption would also cause destructive mud flows and avalanches volcanic debris that race along the side of the volcano with more than 200 miles per hour, “but luckily there are no communities in that radius that are affected,” said Haney.
The USGS has the volcano under 'Advisory', which means that 'drawing shows increased unrest.'
The last time that the Spurr broke out was in 1992, and scientists said that the threatening explosion would probably reflect that.
More than 30 years ago, the volcano covered the entire city of Anchorage in an eighth centimeter axle.
The sky became darker in the middle of the day because of the enormous cloud of dust and gas, and the airport of the city was forced to close at 8 pm.
Crater Peak then broke out twice, once in August and again in September.
