The ex-partner was guilty of Mackenzie Anderson guilty of killing her, only a week before he had the right to trial.
Tyrone Thompson, 25, made the guilty plea on Tuesday at the NSW Supreme Court, reported the Daily Telegraph.
He was convicted of murder and the case was postponed to a conviction in April.
Mrs. Anderson, a 21-year-old mother from Newcastle, was brutally killed in her Mayfield unit in the night of March 25, 2022.
