A former crypto trader who killed his mother to cash in on a life insurance policy that he has eliminated in her name is imprisoned for life.

Andre Zachary Rebelo, 28, showed little emotion because he was put in prison for at least 25 years in the Supreme Court of West -Australia on Tuesday, almost four months after a marathon murder process.

Rebelo's former influencer partner Grace Piscopo, who has more than a million Instagram followers, was nowhere to be seen after he had fled to Bali.

Supreme Court Justice Bruno Fiannaca described Rebelo's 'monstrous act' as 'incomprehensible betrayal of the person you brought into the world'.
