In response to the incident, Sabana Grande met the Palenque Mayor, Miguel Valera, agents from the central directorate of the tourism police and prohibited the presence of dogs on the beach.
Districted residents went to social media to call for legislation against dog owners to protect beach and park visitors against future attacks.
“In my opinion, a law must be assumed that when one of those dogs bites someone, the owner must be sentenced to five years or more in prison and are subject to psychological damage,” a person said. “I bet they will take care of the dogs?”
“There is no law,” another chimed, “in parks it is normal to see that large purebred dogs let go of their owners.
“The owners of the dog had to control that animal,” said another person. “You can't have that animal where people are, much less on a beach.”
A resident called on the chosen officials to take on a more difficult position against the owners of Pit Bulls.
“Here they have to draw up a plan with the owners of that dog breed,” they wrote. '[The owners] Walk into the street as if it [the pit bull] were an ornament, without knowing the danger that they represent. '
