The parents of a baby girl spoke about the 'worst two weeks of their lives' after being interrogated by social services and was probably suspected of neglect children when their daughter sustained a mysterious head injury at kindergarten.

Seven months old Violet Williams underwent a CT scan, two X-rays of the entire body, five blood tests and spent two nights in the hospital after extensive bruises shortly after he was dropped off in Squirrel's Day Nursery, in Bisham, near Blackpool.

Her parents, Charlotte Harrop, 30, and Josh Williams, 31, who also have an older son, feared that their children would be taken in healthcare after they had been interviewed by social workers because bosses in kindergarten could not explain how Violet's injury took place.

The couple was eventually acquitted after an investigation of two weeks when a doctor concluded that the bruises probably took place in an accident in the nursery and not at home.

Today Mrs. Harrop said that the test was 'terrible' and is now campaigning for mandatory CCTV to be installed in a childcare buildings.

“It was terrible, the worst two weeks of our lives,” she said. “I wouldn't wish for my worst enemy.

“We could have losing our daughter about this. I am happy that we have been acquitted, but it is unacceptable that we still have no answers about what happened to Violet.

'I knew that when I dropped her off at the nursery, she had no bruises and her normal happy self.

“The nursery was unable to tell us how she was injured. She could have been killed. I put my confidence on them to take care of my baby and this happened under their care.

'I believe that what happened was an accident, but they are too afraid to admit that someone came back because of the severity of Violet's injuries.

“If CCTV was present, we may have received more answers, that's why I am going to campaign to be in every daycare center in the country.”

Mrs. Harrop, a debt specialist, said she had filed a formal complaint with Ofsted and had contacted her MP, Chris Webb of Labor, to express concerns.

The mother-of-two dropped Violet as usual on March 12 on March 12 in the daycare center, so it was surprised when a manager called her about 90 minutes later at work to ask her to come back and watch a bruise on Violet's forehead.

Mrs. Harrop said that the manager was 'blasé' on the phone, but as soon as she arrived, her 'tone' was clearly different.

“She said,” Please don't get upset, but it's bad, “Mrs. Harrop added.

'You can see the size of the bruises of photos I took and Violet was upset and crying when I stopped her to take a look.

“I was too upset because the staff could not explain how it happened.”

Mrs. Harrop was so concerned that she drove directly to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to have her daughter checked.

But that was the test of the couple when it started.

After he called 111, Mrs. Harrop took her daughter to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to be checked out.

Doctors there told her that Violet needed a CT scan, where she was put asleep, to ensure that she had no fractures for her skull or bleeding on the brain. She also underwent extensive tests and spent two nights in the hospital to exclude other diseases related to serious bruises.

Doctors said Mrs. Harrop that the injury was too serious to be caused by another child and, because it was unexplained, social workers of the city council were contacted and appointed an investigation into child protection that she and Mr. Williams were placed under suspicion of childcare.

Both, plus their seven -year -old son, Toby, and employees of the nursery were interviewed for the security study, which lasted fourteen days to complete.

“It was so painful,” Mrs. Harrop added. 'Josh and I were on the whole of 15 days to take it to reach it.

'Because the nursery could not explain how or why it happened, the social worker told us that they had to trust a probability result from the doctors. I just turned off when they told me that. I was so afraid that my son and daughter would be taken away from us. '

Fortunately, doctors ruled that, because Mrs. Harrop and the nursery agreed that Violet did not arrive with a bruise, in the area of probably, the injury did not happen at home.

A letter from a doctor in the hospital states: “It is not possible to time the bruises, but the aboce of any brand on arrival in the nursery makes it unlikely that it took place at home, although I cannot fully exclude it.”

Mrs. Harrop said that the test was 'terrible' and now campaigns for compulsory CCTV to be installed in childcare (depicted: her daughter Violet)

Mrs. Harrop said the nursery is now considering installing CCTV, but she said, “It's too late.”

She described the test to be interviewed by social workers as 'very invasive' and said that she and her engineering partner have since moved Violet to another nursery

“We are just a normal family who loves their children who go to work and try to make ends meet in life,” Mrs Harrop added.

'We protected Toby against everything that was going on when Violet was in the hospital, he went to his grandmothers for a sleep and I understand why the social workers had to interview him to see how we live, but he is only seven and should not have followed this.

'It has been so stressful and our whole family influenced. I was unable to work because I had to stay at home and take care of Violet, so it also put financial pressure on us.

'We were lucky to find another daycare center for Violet, but I will never fully trust or relax people. No parent should go through what we have.

'That is why, in order to get justice for Violet, I want to campaign for CCTV in nurseries. Because an absolute minimal people have to know what happens to their children. '

A spokesperson for Squirrel's Day Nursery said they had installed CCTV as a result of what happened to Violet, but refused to comment further.

A spokesperson for the BlackPool Council said they were unable to comment on individual matters.

However, he added: “As a local authority, we have a duty to investigate such things and at all times we want to work with families to ensure that there is a proportional response to any problems.”
