A five -year -old girl fights for life after she was struck by a Ute when she ran a busy road while she fled an aggressive dog.
The young child sustained serious head injuries when she was hit on the Great Western Highway in Kingswood, in West -Sydney, on Monday around 4.50 p.m.
Her little brother looked in horror from a nearby store while her father saw that he dropped his possessions and ran towards her.
CCTV from the scene showed a dog that seemed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who pursued just after the brother and sister.
The boy sought refuge in a nearby restaurant before his sister disappeared from sight as she ran the highway.
Witnesses said they heard tires scream and saw the father's desperate bid to catch up with his girl, Seven News reported.
NSW ambulance paramedics were across the road at the time and ran to treat the girl.
The five -year -old was brought to the Westmead Children's Hospital in a serious state.

The locals of Kingswood are said to have no idea who the dog belongs.
“Fortunately, the ambulance was literally on the other side (off the road), so it came right away,” said Ahmed Mansour.
“It was pretty traumatizing.”
The highway was partially closed on Monday afternoon when the police laid cones around the crash site.
A young boy was treated for shock and brought to the Nepean Hospital in a stable state.
The 33-year-old Ute driver was not injured in the accident.
The NSW police took the driver to the hospital for compulsory tests. He is not expected to be charged.
