Federico Nannini shared confidential information with the group he obtained through his position as an advisor for Mastec about the planned acquisition of infrastructure and energy alternatives.
The group then used the information to buy shares at a lower price before the information became public.
The three men argue on Monday guilty of the scheme, in which district judge Rodolfo Ruiz described them as 'Privilege products', according to the Miami Herald. Federico Nannini was sentenced to six months in prison, Mauro Nanninni to three and thermiotis to five.
Hundreds of Nannini family members and supporters were in court for the conviction.

Federico Nannini cried when he apologized to the court and said his dream was a “career in finances.”

The scheme started in June 2022 when Federico Nannini started working for Mastec-an Engineering and Bouwbedrijf based in Coral Gables that offers infrastructure services for the energy, utility and communication industry.
Federico Nannini then started sharing the confidential information with his father, Mauro Nannini, and thermiotis, a good friend. Federico and Thermiotis and Tonary all met at one of the private schools of Miami.
Mauro Nannini bought shares in infrastructure and energy alternatives the day after his son gained access to the financial information about the proposed Mastec acquisition.
Thermiotis has also passed on the insider information about the deal to Tonary.
As the Mastec Acquisition progressed, Federico Nannini continued to update his father and good friend, thermiotis, over the deal. In turn, Thermiotis continued to share the Insider information with Tonus, said public prosecutors.

At one point in July 2022, when Federico Nannini was worried, the acquisition would not take place, Mauro Nannini sold his IEA shares, according to the indictment.
When Federico Nannini received confidential financial data who indicated that the acquisition was in the future, he texted thermiotis that responded.
At that time, Mauro Nannini started to buy back his position in IEA shares and options, said the indictment.
When Mastec's Acquisition of IEA was publicly reported on July 25, 2022, Mauro Nannini, Thermiotis and Tonary all sold their shares and option contracts in IA with a profit.
