An older woman believed that she was possessed by spirits when she saw her arm moving automatically before doctors discovered that they were actually suffering from an extremely rare condition.

Alien Hand Syndrome (AHS) sound like something from a sci-fi film, is a condition where the hand or hands of a person are not under his control and only move.
Also referred to as Dr. Strangelove syndrome, the patients see their hand, often the left, exercise and performing actions without being aware.
Because of the independent movements, patients often feel that their hand is being controlled by another person and are disconnected from the body part.
The person also has no sensation in his hand and cannot feel anything that touches the hand.
Doctors from Texas wrote about the Case Study 2014: 'Alien Hand Syndrome, or Dr. Strangelove Syndrome, is an interesting situation in which a person loses control of his or her hand, who starts acting independently.
'The extraterrestrial hand can grab things and the person may have to use the other limb to release its objects. Extremes stated that the alien hand even suffocates the patient. '
Doctors believe that the AHS of the nameless woman could have been caused by a stroke in the parietal lobes after she stopped taking her blood clot medication pending spinal surgery.
They also noted that the development of AHS as a result of a stroke is extremely rare, but can be frightening for patients.
