When Johnny Thain realized that he became bald at 8 pm, he tried everything to solve the problem.
From thickened powders to hair extensions and a towing, nothing worked or gave him the natural look he wanted. So he resorted to wearing hats everywhere to 'cover the shame'.
'To be honest, it has me depressed. I felt that there was no hope, “says Johnny, now 28, from Durham, England.
“There were times when I had trouble leaving the house, I avoided photos at all costs and I honestly had trouble dating.”
This was until Johnny de Virale Tiktokkapper Rob Wood, owner of NOVO Cabelo Salons, found three years ago he assembled him with a revolutionary new hair system.
Hair systems are unique modern alternatives to a traditional wig. They are made of human hair attached to an almost impossible to spot ultra -thin layer of silicone.
They have become an internet sensation with videos of dramatic transformations that reach up to 7 million people.
Users, experts and capers all say that the dramatic rise is partly than an improved quality of the systems that now use human hair – often collected from Asian men whose slot tends to be thicker.

Johnny, now 28, says that the hair system was a lifeline. “It really changed my life, it has given me a new confidence.”
“Now the systems give a better, natural finish that users can have faith in,” says Rob Wood.

Dr. David Fenton, a dermatologist who specializes in her, said: 'You should not underestimate the psychological impact that hair loss or dilution on a person can have, including fear and depression.
'Especially for younger people it makes a huge amount of their self -esteem, so loss can have a major impact.
“People have always looked at it to camouflage their hair loss and we have certainly seen progress in the quality of options, whether they are hair transplants or hair replacement systems.”
Johnny is not alone. About 8 million women and 6.5 million men in the UK experience a kind of hair loss. In the US, those figures are estimated to rock 30 million and 50 million respectively.
What causes hair loss can vary. Genetics can play a role, but sometimes it is the result of a car -immune condition, where the immune system attacks the body.
Stress can also be a factor. The stress hormone cortisol can disrupt the hair growth cycle, so that it throws faster – and it is also thinner.
But high levels of hormones are the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women.
For young men such as Johnny who have suffered hair loss and a recovering hairline, it is likely that they suffer from androgenetic alopecia or male baldness of the pattern. It is driven by Androgens, the male sex hormones, and causes the growth phase of the hair follicle to become shorter and to expose the scalp.
A study from 2005 showed that 85 percent of men older than 50 suffer from baldness of male patterns.
Many men – and some women – turn to medicines to slow down their hair loss. These drugs, usually finasteride and minoxidil, can be effective – sometimes even turning the problem.
But many patients with severe hair loss believe they need more intensive treatment.
Every year thousands of men in the UK undergo a hair transplant surgery – in which hair follicles from other parts of the body are transferred to a bare patch on the head.
However, the procedure can be priceless. Hair surgery in the UK usually costs no less than £ 4,000 ($ 5,300) – although many men travel abroad to countries such as Turkey to gain access to cheaper care.
In some cases, a hair transplant may not be successful, which means that more operation is required. Research also shows that it can take up to five months before the results of a hair transplant can be shown.

Experts say that for these reasons, men are increasingly turning to hair systems instead of surgery.

Wood says he started working with a hair system ten years ago.
“One of the girls who worked for me, her brother -in -law really struggled with his mental health who was related to his hair loss,” says Mr. Wood.
“So I did a little YouTubing and research to see what was actually there, and what we could do and then I found the hair systems.”
After testing the hair system on the brother -in -law of his colleague, Mr Wood Novo Cabelo decided to open and specialize in the treatment of hair loss for all ages and genera.
Potential customers are invited for the first time for a consultation, so that the team can assess which hair system will match their natural hair.
Then in an appointment of two hours the remaining hair in the bare patch is shaved before the hair system is equipped with a glue and then styled.
According to Mr. Wood, the hair system can last between four and six months, but requires re -assembling every three to four weeks.
They require maintenance and come with a kit to clean and maintain the hairpiece. Mr Wood warns that users must take special care in the sun and on vacation, because the glue can come loose.
Apart from those carriers, however, their daily lives can continue, exercise, shower and even swim with the hairpiece.
In the UK, hair systems usually cost between £ 450 and £ 600. Agreements to restore the system are usually priced at around £ 50.
“Our customers are an immediate result,” says Mr. Wood.
'Another advantage over transplants is that if you want to falter the appearance of growth for a year, so that your friends and family are not shocked, that is possible.
'We can start with a short style and gradually storage to give the appearance of natural growth.
“These types of systems will certainly be the norm – in the same way as extensions have become – within the next five years.”
While the hair of Johnny Thain apparently grew back at night, he claims that the natural look meant that his friends did not notice it.
“One of my best friends doesn't even know it's my hair,” says Johnny. “That's how well it looks.”
