While the first week of the federal election campaign takes place, Labor maintains its slim general lead on the coalition, ahead 51 percent to 49 on a preferred base of two parties.
Advisory reviews for Mr Dutton had fallen considerably since he revealed the policy, said Yougov's director of public data Paul Smith.

Mr Dutton is under pressure on the campaign track to be detailed where the public cutbacks will be made.
The Yougov survey also showed that Labor's primary vote was somewhat deteriorated since the election campaign started and fell one point to 30 percent, while the coalition also fell to 35 percent by two points.
Although the Greens and One Nation have remained stable at 13 and seven percent for their primary voices respectively, independent have enjoyed a slight increase, with two points to 10 percent.
Mr. Albanese also strengthened his lead as preferred premier, by 45 percent to 38 percent, after a two -point decrease in support for Mr Dutton as a leader.
