Tom Cruise has brought an emotional tribute to his top gun Co-star Val Kilmer after his shock this week at the age of 65.
Cruise, 62, played captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell next to Kilmer's Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky in the Classic from 1986, with the pair on the screen reunited for 2022's Top Gun: Maverick.
Cruise on stage in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for Cinemacon, Cruise said per variety: 'I would like to honor a good friend of mine, fall Kilmer.
'I can't tell you how much I admire his work, how grateful and honored I was when he went to Top Gun and later came back for Top Gun: Maverick.
'I think it would be very nice if we could have a moment together because he loved films and he gave us all a lot. Just think about all the great times we had with him.
“I wish you the best on the next trip.”

The actor, who became famous in the 1980s with roles in films such as Batman Forever and the Doors, died of complications regarding pneumonia after a long battle with health problems.
Val, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015, largely spent the later years of his life from the public eye.
Val is survived by his daughter Mercedes and son Jack, whom he had during his marriage to actress Joanne Whalley.
His death was announced on Tuesday by Mercedes.
This comes a day after another large star has paid tribute to Kilmer. Michelle Pfeiffer shared a sweet note with social media on Wednesday.

The two actors met for the first time while filming the special, who tackled the dangers of teen drinks and formed a close friendship that lasted decades.
Val spoke openly about his band with Pfeiffer in his Memoir 2020, I am your Huckleberry. He described the connection they shared and said, “The secret pain Michelle and I shared created an intimacy between us.”

He revealed that he felt comfortable to trust her about his tense relationship with his parents, while Michelle in turn spoke to him about the difficulties in her marriage to Peter Horton, from whom she later divorced.
Although Val wrote about Michelle with great pleasure, he admitted that he had now received a long -term attraction for her younger sister, Lori Pfeiffer, 59.
He said in his memoirs: “I was an all -wasting crush on her younger sister Lori, who didn't seem to answer, even a bit,” he wrote. “In fact, she didn't even seem to know that I existed.”
Although speculation has been held about whether Michelle and Val were ever dated, the details remain unclear. Val, however, thought about their time together in an Instagram post 2018, and shares the same image that Michelle was later used in her tribute.
He said online: 'I met Michelle for the first time through her husband Peter and Mare Winningham, who was my first girlfriend in high school.
“It was so great to work with all three such talented people in one 'After School Special', which was always a moral game designed to teach children who are just home from school.”
Michelle has not publicly commented on fall outside her Instagram message.
