Gayle King left CBS viewers in astonishment when she casually expressed a gay smet during the Thursday broadcast of CBS -Logendenden.
King interviewed comedian Matteo Lane about his new cookbook that sucks you pasta when the conversation focused on Lane's stand-up material.

Her comment referred to one of Lane's own punchlines and seemed to land well with the comedian, who uses the controversial term in his sets.
But King's co-hosts were less amused and CBS promised to edit the following feeds and scrubbing from online.
“Gayle quoted Matteo Lane in a live conversation,” the network said in a statement.
“We have removed De Smet from the later feeds from the show, as you can see on our social channels, and we have removed this version of the segment from YouTube and CBSNews.com.”
The attacking term has long been considered a homophobic smellslur, but has been recovered by some gay men.

The studio was visibly tense after King used the homophobic smelly slur
King still has to apologize and there has been no further comments from Lane.
But many viewers have since gone to social media platform X to share their disapproval of the faux pass.

King, 70, has been a vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ People and has previously used its platform to emphasize the importance of celebrating pride.
Her fervent support for the community, combined with her close friendship with colleague veteran -broadcaster Oprah Winfrey, 71, has even led to some misplaced speculation that the two have a relationship.

King, always the more Gregarious of the couple, once begged Oprah to make a segment about the rumors about the Oprah Winfrey show, just to clarify that she was in fact available for dating.
“Because if we were gay, we would tell you!” King explained with her characteristic smile.
The rumors have almost become part of the structure of their friendship with the couple that is seen arm-in-arm in red carpets, on vacation, on gala fundraisers and galas met.
Despite their unmistakable chemistry, Winfrey pointed out that the intensity of their band does not make it romantic.
