He emphasized that AI companions will create a new class of digital experiences, tailored to everyone’s interests and unlike anything technology has created before.
He marked that India is one of their fastest growing markets, home to talented engineers and developers.

Future of AI in India
During a fireside chat with S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, Mustafa Suleyman said India is one of Microsoft’s fastest growing markets. It also has one of the strongest research and development teams in the world.
“We have extremely talented engineers and developers, and we are increasingly involving social scientists, psychologists, therapists, screenwriters, comedians and other creatives. This diversity allows us to synthesize more perspectives and gain a broader view of the people involved in the design and creation process,” he added.
When asked about the potential applications of AI here, Suleyman, who joined Microsoft from Google’s DeepMind, said the Internet has already put information at the fingertips of everyone that is synthesized and personally tailored to how an individual wants to learn and use – and this applies just as much in the workplace as at home. “For example, M365 Copilot can already do fantastic reasoning about your work data,” he added. During the event he also demonstrated the updated version of Microsoft Copilot.
Microsoft appointed Mustafa Suleyman in March this year to oversee its newly created consumer AI unit. The tech giant has released several upgrades to Copilot in recent months.
