India successfully tests Pinaka guided weapon system | India News – Times of India
“Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully completed the flight trials of Guided Pinaka Weapon system as part of the Preliminary Personnel Qualification Requirements (PSQR) validation trials, the report said.
The flight tests were conducted in three phases at different shooting ranges.
“Twelve missiles from each production bureau of two in-service Pinaka launchers upgraded by the launcher production bureaus have been tested,” the statement said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has complimented the DRDO and the Indian Army for the successful PSQR validation trials of the system and stated that the induction of this Guided Pinaka Weapon System will further enhance the artillery firepower of the armed forces, the report said.
The precision attack variant for the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System is a total indigenous weapon system designed and developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment in collaboration with Research Center Imarat, Defense Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Proof & Experimental Establishment with Munitions India Limited and Economic Explosives Limited as ammunition manufacturing agencies and Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Larsen & Toubro for Pinaka launcher and Battery Command Post.
Secretary, Ministry of Defense R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Samir V Kamat, also congratulated the teams involved in the trials and said the missile system has “completed all necessary flight tests before induction into the Indian Army”.
