India, US discuss issues surrounding Indo-Pacific region and Gaza in interim dialogue | India News – Times of India
WASHINGTON: Indian and US officials on Monday held the US-India 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue, during which they discussed matters relating to the Indo-Pacific region, Ukraine And Gazathe Ministry of External Affairs said here. The interaction, held in New Delhi, comes ahead of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden.
The U.S. delegation was co-chaired by Donald Lu, Assistant Under Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asia, and Jedidiah P. Royal, Deputy Assistant Under Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, the State Department said.
The Indian delegation was headed by Joint Secretary for the Americas, Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Nagaraj Naidu, and Joint Secretary for International Cooperation, Indian Ministry of Defence, Vishwesh Negi.
According to the State Department, the dialogue has advanced shared priorities, including: defense cooperationcooperation in space and civil aviation, cooperation in clean energy and coordination in industry and logistics.
“The officials discussed a range of topics in the Indo-Pacific region and globally, including support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, as well as support for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance in Gaza,” the State Department said.
Assistant Secretary Lu and Deputy Assistant Secretary Royal reiterated the United States’ commitment to further strengthening existing partnerships and expanding people-to-people ties.
