Indian troops are helping UNISFA organize pregnancy awareness sessions in Abyei
Indian troops deployed in Abyei, Africa, conducted a comprehensive pregnancy awareness session for the women in Rumajak village as part of an outreach initiative under the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). 24 women and 9 girls from the local community participated in the session.
The session was moderated by Captain Jaspreet Kaur of the Female engagement team and Major Abhijith S, Indian Battalion Medical Officer. It focused on essential practices for a safe and healthy pregnancy, covering topics such as nutritional guidelines, common health risks and the importance of prenatal care.
This effort is part of the Indian Battalion’s ongoing commitment to support local communities and deliver results humanitarian aid in Abyei, in line with the broader UN mandate to promote peace, stability and well-being in the region.
