Another look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrived as part of the Xbox Developers Direct held on January 18, 2024, and provided our first look at what we can expect from the game. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle story and setting
Since it is an Indiana Jones match, we can expect an exciting, juicy adventure full of brutal feats and relics of antiquity.
Fortunately, the teaser and gameplay trailer do provide some useful tidbits that an inquisitive viewer can use to piece together some of the plot. Given that the trailer shows a map of Vatican City as well as text that reads, in part, “I arrive in Rome,” it appears that we’ll be seeing Dr. Jones adventuring in Italy, compared to the trailer’s introductory scene that suggests a brief sojourn in Africa.
Given that Indy’s plane ticket is dated 1937, our hero will likely have to deal with the machinations of Italy’s rising fascist party as Europe teeters on the brink of World War II. This also means that the game is set (at least partially) a year after the first Indiana Jones film: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The books “Ancient Circles”, “Forbidden Stones” and “Myths that Made Us” suggest that the Indiana Jones-style adventure will feature occult myths and ancient artifacts with supernatural powers.
