Racing driver Scott McLaughlin suffered a wonderful escape after turning his Indy 500 car in a crash of 250 MPH.
The new Zeelander car went into the air during training while he pushed the boundaries at the Speedway motorcycle from Indianapolis.
McLaughlin, 31, took the front row of the Indianapolis 500 Last year for Team Penske.
But his horror smash on Sunday means that the team will be on line on the 10th, 11th and 12th for the iconic race.
McLaughlin lost control of bend 2 and clashed with the wall at high speed.
His No. 3 Chevrolet turned around and traveled the straight road, with one of his tires that broke off.
McLaughlin was fortunately able to walk away from the wreck to the medical center.
He will now start P12 on the Indy 500 -Raster.
The relieved kiwi said after the crash: “I’m okay.
“I’m just sorry for everyone at Team Penske.

“[The car] Was talking to me and I felt it a bit, and I probably had to go back.
“But you try to complete a run to see how it feels and was it worth the risk? Probably not. I am incredibly sad.”
McLaughlin also admitted that the seriousness of the crash had taken his toll from his wife and family.
He added: “They are nervous about me.
“I wanted to get out of the car right away, so she knew it was good.”
McLaughlin is the third driver who suffers a serious crash while racing this weekend in Indianapolis.
Kyffin Simpson went in the air during Fast Friday, while Colton Herta crashed in Saturday’s qualification.
