NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should address Parliament on India’s protective measures Hindus in Bangladesh.
At a press conference in Mumbai, Thackeray criticized the BJP and alleged that their ‘Hindutva stand’ only serves electoral purposes.
Addressing the situation in Bangladesh, he highlighted the ongoing vandalism of temples, with the minority Hindu community recently facing violent clashes. He then questioned the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh while former deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sought refuge in India.
“Prime Minister Modi should inform Parliament about the steps being taken by India to protect Hindus in Bangladesh,” Thackeray said, noting that Parliament is in its winter session. He further noted that if the Prime Minister could intervene in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he should similarly address the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.
